That is simply not true! When Dorico keeps room for a coda sign, and i move the coda sign, the gap remains, untill I adjust the Space Size back and foth, so the option is exactly the same, but then Dorico recalculates and changes the gap. that happens all the time. there must be a way to avoid all those back and forth action? Just recalculate?

Whaaaaaaaaaaat?? :scream:

Now I have to test this…

It is true…

When the music font is very small compared to all text, what can I do?

I am not able to reproduce this. Here I have a bunch of tightly spaced systems, with a giant Coda forcing two systems apart.

I move the Coda out of the way, and the space remains, as expected.

I make the Rastral size one size larger (smaller space size) and apply, then change it back and apply. The extra space for the Coda remains.

That is extremely strange, and not the way my Dorico reacts. If I move the Coda, changing Space Size triggers recalculation. Always!

When you change the “space size” are you changing the music spacing or rastral size spacing?

Can you provide a file and specific set of steps? Or screenshots like mine above, showing before and after?

Some time back this Avoid Collisions property fix came up and there was a sequence of steps that allowed you to turn it on and off to solve this sort of problem; you’d turn it off to fix the problem and then turn it back on so as not to cause a lot of other problems. I don’t have time to find it right now, but I remember that it solved a recalcitrant issue for me at the time.

That’s probably a misunderstanding:
1.) you turn Avoid Collisions off - and Dorico will recalculate the staves / “fix the problem”.
2.) you don’t turn it back on - instead in Engrave Mode you move the text item manually.

Yes, that was it.
