I have 4 pages of piano music that was transferred from Finale. Page 1 has 4 systems, page 2 has 5 systems (orignally it had 4 systems,) page 3 has 4 systems and page 4 has 1 system. I managed to get the 5 systems onto page 2 by highlighting the first system on page 2 up to and including the first system on page 3, switching to Engrave mode and clicking “Make into Frame.” It worked! Then I tried the same method to move the last system on page 4 onto page 3, Nothing. I’m stuck. I’ve tried casting off - attempting to adjust the settings so that 5 systems are allowed but it doesn’t help either. Any ideas of what I’m doing wrong? Thanks.
Can you upload the file that somebody can take a look?
If the signpost on page 4 is a system or frame break, delete it. Then you should get all 5 systems on page 3. It also looks like you adjusted the frame for the music on page 2 making it larger (closer to top of page) than page 3. Make sure those are the same on 2 and 3.
It looks like a system break, and that shouldn’t interfere with Make Into Frame.
@coenen53 Can you upload the actual Dorico project file?

Here you go. Thanks for taking a look.
The main problem are the page overrides, the red triangles in the page section in the right zone in Engrave Mode. And the manual staff spacing. Don’t do that. Let Dorico do the hard work.![]()
And don’t edit the pages directly. Edit the page templates.
I deleted the page overrides and the manual spacing and reduced the top and bottom page margins.
Then I edited the paragraph style for the title to Zapfino. You have to enter the literal title in the project window.

Try deleting all the system signposts. I did that and it put everything on 3 pages. The distance between bracketed staves seemed a little odd on some but you can adjust that in Layout options. And, you might want to update to the latest Dorico update 6.2.3
If I reset everything to Dorico defaults, removing all your manual interventions (and just hiding the flow heading in Layout Options) this is what I get…

Dorico does a pretty good job out of the box. But since this was an xml import, you might want to look at Preferences>MusicXML>Import options and uncheck every option. That will give Dorico maximum freedom to apply its own rules (which of course you have set!)
Janus, Kent and Stefan,
You guys are my heros. Thanks so, so much for your help. I need to study and absorb your solutions for a while, but it’s great to have the immediate problem solved.
In Gratitude,
Sally
