Free Form (no time signature) and note values

I’m trying to re-notate this in compound rhythm (three note grouping similar to 3/8) so that the melody is interpreted correctly. The form is a free form so I have avoided using a time signature so that the music can be notated accordingly. This leaves room for rubato and aids in not having to notate time signature changes anytime a ternary feel is abandoned.

When I try to erase the sextuplets, notes disappear. Anyone now how to keep all the notes but group all the triplets as they would be beamed (in red) so that I can experiment with different groupings?

Your image shows you have selected both the tuplets (numbers) and the notes. You need to engage insert mode, then filter>select> tuplets and hit delete. You can then add back the tuplets (probably as 3:2x, but 9:6x might also work) and beam them as you want.

It is a delicate process, but possible.
