Free Grace Period Update to Cubase 13

Hi @Riggs, when you redeem a code you will always get the current license. So activating the update from 12 to 13 after the release of Cubase 14 will get you a Cubase 14 license.

The new Steinberg Licensing allows you to activate a product on up to three systems and you don’t the need the dongle any more to use Cubase.

The grace period is a short period of time before a new release. If you activate a Cubase 13 license in the grace period, you will get a free update to Cubase 14.

Thanks very much!

Finally, after re-registering the USB key (even though it was already registered), this appeared on MySteinberg:

Does this practically mean that I am entitled to a free upgrade to the next version of Cubase?
If so, how do I do that, since I don’t see anywhere where I can click to claim that right?
Thanks in advance for everyone’s help…

Have a look here and go through the steps.

How to verify eligibility for free Grace Period update – Steinberg Support

I understand, but now I have another serious problem: when I start the Steinberg activation manager, nothing happens, I only get this:

Blank page!!!
And what should I do now?

That looks like it could be an installation issue - could you uninstall Steinberg Activation Manager, download and reinstall the latest version from here:

I already did that, but the same thing happens. What should I do? Well, I won’t lose that offer because the software doesn’t work, and it’s not my fault?!

Could you open a file explorer window, go to “%APPDATA%\Steinberg”, zip up the “Activation Manager” folder and PM it to me?

Hi,
I had Cubase Pro 11 so a had to update to this new licensing method. I had no voucher in my Steinberg account that would give me free update. My activation of Cubase 11 wasn’t shortly before or after the release of Cubase 13. I guess I updated from Cubase 10.5 in 2021 so I needed to buy the update. And there was no way to activate it. Like no licence to find that can be activated. There is a screenshot

After hours spending on Google and Youtube a figured it out through Activation Manager which was installed together with Cubase 13 after I bought the update. The update is still useless so I have two license codes now. What should I do with the update that I bought? There is still the same problem with activation. Can I activated it on another PC so my Cubase will run on two PCs? Or is there any option of refund? Or shift value of the update to purchasing Dorico and of course I will pay the rest of price for Dorico?
Thank you.

Hi @Martin0 - welcome to the forums! Please contact our support team for a refund for the update purchase you didn’t need.

Yes, but there is no kind of email support for Slovakia. Can you send me email I can write to, please?
Thanks

I have 2 questions:

  1. Is there a difference between redeeming a Download Access code and Activating a license?

  2. I just purchased Cubase 13 pro, but don’t plan to activate it for a while because I plan to move and the computer I use for music is packed. Your sale convinced me to buy it now rather than wait. So, I redeemed the access code in order to register it, but have not activated it on any computer. If I don’t activate it on any computer and Cubase 14 pro comes out 3 or 4 months from now will I be entitled to the Cubase 14 upgrade free. This the reason I am asking, if there is a difference between
redeeming a Download Access code and Activating a license. I hope there is a difference as I wanted to redeem my Download Access code to secure against misplacing or losing it within 1000’s of E-mails which I will get between now and when I activate it in many months or even in worst case a year. Just as a side
note, I have not downloaded any installers either.

Thanks,
Eric

On this page you’ll find information on how to request a refund.
Scroll down to Billing and Refunds, open this section and click on Refund Intructions. It probably also works in your country.

Thank you very much!

No, unfortunately not. If you redeem the Download Access Code, the license for the current version of the corresponding application is added to your user account and you’re no longer eligible for a future grace period. Activating the license on a computer doesn’t matter in this case.

To benefit from the grace period, you’d need to keep the Download Access Code at a safe place and only redeem it shortly before or after the release of the new version.

Hi @Matthias_quellmann,
My account states I am eligible for the grace period CB13PRO but when I put my code in it says it is the wrong code. I made a service ticket but it’s been a while. Could you advise? Cheers

As soon as you enter the Download Access Code in the Steinberg Download Assistant or on the website of your MySteinberg account you have activated your license.

Hello again Martin and friends:
I didn’t finish the Windows new mother board substituiton, so if I buy today the upgrade offer to Cubase 13 will I be able to start using it next monthand still will have the grace period benefits?
Thanks.

Sorry for multiple instances, but I am still new to this support system.

Hi, I am on 12 Pro and intend to upgrade to 14 Pro. If I upgrade to 13 Pro now in October 2024, will I be within the grace period for 14 Pro? Have not seen any announcements for release dates. Thank!
