What is the best way to export a Dorico - Score to Nuendo (with all the plugins, Halion, Kontakt etc. and different players)?
There are some ways to do it.
-
inter-applicational connection using a virtual midi port:
-
Mac:
IAC MIDI driver under ‘Audio MIDI Setup’
Transfer MIDI information between apps in Audio MIDI Setup on Mac – Apple Support (UK) -
Window:
virtualMIDI, loopbe, etc
virtual midi for windows - Google Search

Export musicXML from Dorico to Nuendo

Export MIDI from Dorico to Nuendo
Nuendo has its own score editor, but I would edit scores using Dorico, and would use Nuendo to edit sounds more in detail. However, Dorico’s MIDI-editor is already incredibly good. Except for very rare, specific cases, exporting individual instruments from Dorico would also be a possibility.
thanks prko, already familiar with your suggestions, but I look for a good way to export a dorico-score with all the playback engines to Nuendo for better mixing.
There has been a discussion about synchronization between Cubase and Dorico, which is basically the same problem, and @dspreadbury answered it there.
I’m afraid there’s no way to transfer the VST configuration in Dorico to Nuendo (or Cubase).
The idea is not to synchronize both apps, but to import the Dorico-score into Nuendo. I need it for the following reason: I want to do audio mockup, where players can choose phrases in the dorico-score ad lib in time, which needs a lot of space in notation…
Will this not work? As far as I know, it works. Of course, some notation should be corrected manually.
This is not technically possible, so I recommend inter-application linking. I am not talking about synchronising the two applications, just sending and receiving signals. To achieve this, you could do one of the following
- Create a Nuendo project manually
- import a midi file or musicXML, then modify each track in Nuendo
It is hard for me to imagine an automatic way to do this. But I am very interested in this.
…importing MusicXML in Nuendo creates always a new project, with only Midi-tracks for every player. Then I have to copy/paste every track in new instruments track, setting up the appropriate plugIns, time consuming.
Yes, it is…
There is a sync or copy option between Dorico and Cubase.
It would be nice to have the same feature between Dorico and Nuendo!
Oh, interesting.
BTW is it possibleto open Cubase-projects in Nuendo without any hassle?
As far as I know, yes. But I have not tried it intensively for 15 years.
