Frustrated no sounds

I’ve been trying for a month now to get some sounds in Dorico 5, I have followed all the instructional videos with no success, I must admit I’m getting ready for reverting back to Sibelius where my sounds are instant and no problem, A shame because I wanted Dorico to work for me.

Hi @agr343 , I am sorry to hear that you have problems with audio. Dorico is very reliable and must be a setting or specific system issue that cause this on your computer.

I don’t see any other Post in the Forum where you were asking for help with your sound issue. Instead ob becoming frustrated, when you have a problem, you can ask here in the Forum and your issue will be taken with care from the wonderful Dorico Team.

The first thing that will be asked from the Team is to post a Diagnostic File (that you can create from the Help menu in Dorico with Create Diagnostic Report, and post it here).

Did you installed all the required Files, from Steinberg Download Assistant selecting Dorico on the left panel?

You can try to reload the desired Playback template from menu Play/Playback Template , select it and click Apply and close.

Also, if you are on Windows, try to install and use the Built-in ASIO driver (you can switch to it, once installed, from menu Edit/Device setup…):

Hi @agr343 , don’t worry, we will help you getting sound going in Dorico. Adding to what @Christian_R already mentioned, please do the following:

  • Start Dorico and create a project from the solo piano template.
  • Leave Dorico some time to load everything, i.e. in Play mode wait until the Play button becomes green, which means that the audio engine is ready to produce sound.
  • From Dorico’s main menu choose Help > Create Diagnostic Report and post the corresponding zip file here. From the contained data I get a first overview and can come up with more advice.
    Thank you very much
