Love me some Rush! ![]()
Go fill out the survey they just posted today. Lot’s of AI integration questions. We will see what the users want!
Also, Ableton just announced even deeper scripting control with node.js or something that seems to give it even MORE API control.
I would not mind more API control in general…automate some basic tasks. More than what the macros can do. There are things I would like the PLE to do, but can’t.
Yeah just open it up a little. Esp the MIDI plugin stuff for better midi instrument routing or integration. Things we have discussed plenty of times before.
And that’s why I’m normal. Cause I was raised on rocknroll.
These kids with nothing but issues; needing a bot to be artists for them because they were raised on taylor swift and 6ix9ine.
Cause and effect.
Not realizing that if they are lacking inspiration and having writers block, they just need to stop making music and start listening to it.
I must admit, this is something I never understood within these arguments…
“I just want some inspiration” well, put your head down then and play your instrument, it will eventually come to you…Plus, there are a good few hundred years of music worth of material to be inspired by…how much more do you need?
Yes, exactly.
I’ll add to that; the root word of “inspiration” is “spirit”. So someone looking at their blank project grid and just staring into the abyss cause nothing is working for them, I think the tools are not the problem. They have a dead spirit.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit causes life overflowing, which translates into all things; including the ability to make a joyful noise. Unending, unrelenting, unfailing inspiration. Due to the spiritual energizer battery literally being installed within.
While the finest musician originally is lucifer the anointed cherub. Who had many instruments in his throat. The original head composer of the congregation. The chief musician is no longer him I think.
So the history of music started with praise and worship towards God and music in the King’s courts. The place where the people themselves were the quality of the output, not the quality of the tools.
Esoteric babbling maybe, but just my take on it.
No option for Fortran in that survey though … ![]()
Link?
Cheers.
I’ll leave it here, Steinberg. Just imagine if Cubase could do this natively and LLM had full context awareness of the session:
VSL just released VEP 8.1 with a public beta MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini connect directly to Vienna Ensemble Pro and manage templates through natural language: creating channels, naming them, organizing folders, enabling/disabling entire sections.
What matters here isn’t VEP itself — it’s that a key player in our ecosystem just proved this works right now, with an open standard any application can implement.
For Cubase, the most obvious use case is exactly what’s been discussed in this thread: a natural language layer that translates instructions into PLE operations. Not to replace it, but to remove the barrier to entry. The PLE stays the engine; AI becomes the interface.
I think some of the discussion here also was that we would like more functions to be accessible than what PLE can provide. If I remember correctly (not going to re-read the whole thing)
Dodgy
“The music is yours”, “We don’t train AI with your music”…sure mate, whatever you say…where do I sign?
Makes me sad…
Yes, that’s why we need our own tools. When (or if) Steinberg opens up the SDK, we could run the calculation locally with Foss’s small LLMs in the background.
