Funky ARA in Cubase 14

ARA is really acting out in C14…

When selecting Melodyne as an extension in C14, sometimes the audio doesn’t show or is not heard in Melodyne.
After then having selected ’remove extension’ for the actual Part in Cubase, that Part isn’t audible anymore, but the waveform is still visible.

If I chose two different Parts and select the extension Melodyne, it might happen that the audio (’blobs’) can be seen but when trying to edit the audio from one of the Parts the other one gets changed as well.
All this worked fine in C13 with that same Melodyne version.

Another example:
After having done some editing in SpectraLayers 11 as an ARA extension in C14, and then made this edit permanent in C14 (where SL11 should get out of the system), when I later mark another Part and select from Edit>Functions menu ’Convert to real copy’ that Part will all of a sudden get the ’extension symbol’ in the right corner and the context menu tells that SpectraLayers is active. Double clicking that Part then opens SL11 in ARA mode.
Complete madness… it is as if extensions are not completely closed, and even ’touch’ other Parts that were never opened in those extensions.
In C13 SL11 worked as expected.

Maybe tag this as an issue. I would love to see them sort out all the ARA issues as it’s one of the reasons I keep looking at other DAWs. Let’s hope for some fixes in the next update.

Yup, done.

Having some weirdness with Cubase Pro 14 and ARA as well. In one project I could not choose the key/scale in Melodyne using ARA (as an insert it was fine to choose key/scale).

In another project the ARA version kept playing even after bouncing the part, so it was like a vocal double on the section. Removing the audio event still had ARA playing for the part. Had to render to a new track to get around that.

Since 14.0.10 it’s not that funky anymore.
The madness seen in previous version (.05) is gone; Melodyne as an ARA works as expected, ”Convert to real copy” doesn’t open SpectraLayers anymore, when done with editing in an ARA extension it will actually close and return the edits back to Cubase after making the extension permanent. Even the key commands in SpectraLayers work as expected now!

Hooray!!!

I have problems with melodyne too in cubase 14.0.10 …
I cant work in “track list” mode in melodyne as I use to do… if I open a new project it works. No idea whats blocking it.

This is still happening for me anyone else?
