After closing a project and re-opening it later, some of the effects editor windows are just black. The effects do work fine and the setting have been kept as when I saved the projects, but I can´t access the settings. Any ideas?

If I may add: what kind of graphic card and which plugins are affected? Same company by any chance?
Are the windows pitch black (or can you see fields with numbers = generic editor)?

- The windows are absolutely pitch black.
- The plugins affected so far are by Waves (e.g. C4) and IKMultimedia (e.g. TR5). Whereas Steinberg plugins (e.g. RoomWorks) show up reliably.
- Graphics card: AMD Radeon 496Mb

I reckon this is the culprit. I had the same issue, long ago. Bought the cheapest GPU I could find (had 2 gigs of RAM), problem solved.
If you remove some plugins do they display properly?
In my experience, Waves needs a decent GPU if you want to load many of them.
What @Googly_Croft said: I would put my money on the graphic card, too. Have you checked on driver updates for your graphic card? If this doesn’t help I would try to replace it with a more recent one.

The GCU is up to date, so I will get a better one.
In the meantime, I will use the curious workaround that I accidentally found this morning:
When I create a new FX track, the old black FX windows suddenly reveal their content. Doesn´t seem to make much sense, but oh well, at least it works.
