FX send levels for Insert Effects in Halion Sonic 7. Bug?

Hi,

I’m using iMac (Intel, OS 13), CB 14.

I’m not sure if I am missing something very obvious or there is a bug.

I have installed the Init program in Halion Sonic and and added Delay in the Inserts.

When I then adjust the FX send level for FX1, the only effect I notice is an increase the volume corresponding to an increase in the send level for FX1. Furthermore, I get this increase in volume if I increase any of send levels for FX 1, 2, 3 &4. For example, I could increase the send level for FX 2 instead of FX 1 and still get this increase in volume. And, if I increase the sends for more than one of the FX level (eg FX 1 and FX2), this increase in volume is compounded even though for this experiment I have only assigned one effect (Multi Delay).

In a second experiment, I added two AUX Effects to the installation of Halion Sonic. (I removed the previous insert effect).

However, adjusting the send levels for the FXs in the MIX page does nothing; furthermore, the meter indicates zero output for both slots.

What’s more, the effects only register if I go to the Edit/Program page and increase the send levels for FX1 and FX2.

Question: Is it time to update my Mac?, or am I missing something obvious?, or is there a bug?

That would be normal. When you apply the FX1 send gain you are not applying FX gain to the input of the insert effect you are sending the layer 1 signal to AUX FX1 thereby increasing the level since AUX FX1 is added to the signal, and similar for AUX FX 2-4.

Thus, FX 1–4 govern the amount of signal that is sent to the four auxiliary busses.

I think I gotcha. Thanks for that explanation! It doesn’t quite explain why I was getting zero reading output in the second of the experiments but I was probably doing something weird.
