I know that the values related to a slider (for example, a volume slider in the Acoustic Agent Mixer) can be adjusted by clicking the slider and dragging up and down, or by using the mouse wheel (alone or together with the Alt/Opt, Shift, Ctrl/Cmd keyboard keys).
Sometimes, however, when I know exactly the value I want and this is far from the current one, I’d like to set the value directly, using the number keys on the keyboard.
And I can’t figure out how to do that.
Is there a way?
I looked in the manual and didn’t find anything regarding changing values in the GA mixer the way you’re looking for… They do talk about using the mouse wheel and hovering over the mixer. I personally tried several different way of clicking on the mixer i.e. Alt/click, Shift/click etc and I could not find any way to open up a dialog box that would allow you to enter a value.
Groove Agent, just like Cubase, lets you click on the number itself in the mixer (and lots of other places as well) and change it manually. Just did it several times right now in Groove Agent 5.2. Even the note names and values in the Perform tab let you edit everything by hand. Just about every single parameter with a dialog box showing you the value can be double clicked and edited.
In my Acoustic Agent Mixer the “number itself” you mention is only displayed “on the fly” near the corresponding volume slider (-5.6 dB in the following image) when the mouse cursor gets over the slider.
And there seems to be no way of clicking on that number, because as soon as you move the mouse away from the slider (trying to reach the number) the number disappears.
My question, however, refers to Groove Agent SE 5.2.
Maybe in the full GA things are different?
Are you talking about doing that from the mixer inside GA5? If so, please provide an outline of how to go about this. We’re not talking about doing this from the Project Window or Main Mixer.
Ahh you got me there! I don’t use Acoustic Agent, but just fired it up and that mixer is completely different from Beat Agent’s hah. I assumed they were the same but I guess they went for the ‘old analog feel’ with that one?? Beat Agent’s has a window just like Cubase’s, you just double click and set your value right there. Same way in either the full version or SE, checked both out.
