Galley View/Page View Jumping Around

Does anyone know why when I switch from Galley View to Page View (or vise versa) the score jumps to a different location in the score. ei. I am working in m.60 in Galley View and when I switch back to Page View I am all the way back at the beginning of the flow. I read someone from a post back in 2016 that was having this same problem and the reply was that this would be fixed in an upcoming update. It does not appear that it was.

Is there a way to have Galley View and Page View focus on the same measure when switching back and forth?
Thanks.

I do not know why. But the best solution I have found to deal with it, is to make sure something is selected in the view you are in. After switching view, press P to start playback. The view will now move to what was selected.

It is a workaround, but it is ok after getting used to it.

LAE,
Thanks for this work-around. I think that is something the code writers need to take a close look at. It evidently has been an issue for quite some time.

I select something, and after changing view, hit one of the arrow key to move to the next/previous item. That way I don’t have to start playback.

Great idea! That’s even better.
Thank you.

You can also assign a key command to center selection, which has saved me a lot of scrolling time.

Stu M,
Thanks for this tip. I don’t yet know how to set key commands in Dorico but this sounds like a great idea and I will do some homework and try to figure out how to do that.

Thanks so much for your input.

Here’s the section in the manual.

asherber,
Thank you for sending the link on setting up key commands. This will be extremely helpful as usual.

Stu,
I have worked on learning to set up key commands and have set several up. Now, can you tell me where I can find the “center selection” so I can get a key command set up for that action?

Thank you.
Gary

Search “center selection” in the search field and you’ll find it under view

Found it.
Thank you.
