Hello,
I’m writing an orchestral piece and, on several places, the gap between the time indication and the music disappears which means that the first notes are hidden by the time signs.
Is this galley view? Check it out in page view.
I’m betting that bar 75 starts a new system. Galley view does not bother with many kinds of spacing adjustments, to help it display faster.
If my guess is wrong, post a project so we can figure out what’s happening.
That’s a bit strange. I have never had this problem myself, but that doesn’t mean that I have no idea what the reason could be.
My guess is that the systems are too full for whatever reason. Have a look in Engrave mode to see what percentage of fullness is there. In any case, try to solve the problem with system breaks. You can do this in the same mode: To do this, select an object in the system, preferably a bar line, which should be the last one before the break. Now click the corresponding button on the left-hand side to create a system break.
Is the number written in the left bottom corner the indication or the % of fullness?
If so, it varies between 115% and 140%. Is it too much? If so, why?
Thank you. In fact, galley view doesn’t show the problem, BUT, it indicates the time with varying features………
Like you see in the example, 6/16 is the same, at the beginning, but 3/4 and the following 6/16 doesn`t look like the same.
Do you have an idea?
Yes, but those are for the entire page. On the right side of the pages you can see the percentages for every system. But no matter what it’s for, it should rarely exceed 100%. Sometimes, I have staves/systems where I it’s between 100% and 110%, but not beyond that.
thank you for your answer. As the percentages in my score are a little more than 110%, I should try to diminish them.
The only way I can figure out is to decrease the number of measure per page, because it is a score for large orchestra, with only one system per page…
Is there something else to do?
Perhaps you have accidentally chosen the wrong page size for an orchestra?
First try using a note spacing change (Engrave>note spacing change…). Reducing it might convince Dorico the system is less full.
Thank you. I’ll try it .
