When recording any audio track, I always end up with gaps of about 1 second in the recording. These are not displayed in the track at first, but if you zoom in, the audio waves disappear and the gap becomes visible.
The gaps always seem to occur in the same place relative to the starting point of the recording. You can often hear a short crack shortly before the gaps. It is not due to the cable or microphone.
I’ve had this problem since updating to Cubase Pro 13. I’m currently using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 - buffer size 1042, but it happens with all interfaces (Steinberg, Apollo, Tascam,…). I use a M1 MacBook Pro, Cubase Pro 13.
UPDATE: I think I found the problem: Its because i have all my sessions on an ssd. I tried recording on a session thats stored locally and i dont have the GAP-issue. I will test this now further.
Just for clarity, do you actually mean an SSD (Solid State Drive) and not an external USB connected drive?
I’m asking because an SSD is much faster than an older HDD for example.
Potentially, yes. Especially if recording onto an internal drive (be it an SSD or an HDD) works as expected.
I would look to see if there are any updated drivers for your MB or if the manufacturer of your external drive offers specific drivers for it.
