Is it possible to use Garritan Harps in Dorico Pro5? If so, how do I set this up?
Many thanks
Welcome to the forum, Steve. I don’t believe there is a ready-made playback template for Garritan Harps, but I would hope that you could get it working in a simple way by loading the required plug-in as a new entry in the VST and MIDI panel on the left-hand side in Play mode (I’m not familiar with this library, but I presume it uses the ARIA Player, so load that), and then loading the required harp patch into the plug-in.
Then you can add a harp to your project, and in Play mode, switch to the Track Inspector panel. Select the harp instrument in the track overview, and then in the Routing section of the panel on the left, choose the plug-in you loaded with the harp patch within it. Now Dorico should play your harp instrument back through the Garritan Harp sound you’ve loaded.
In order to use the unique CCs that control the Garritan Harps, you’ll have to create an Expression Map that uses CC12 for Velocity, CC13 for Pick Noise, CC72 for Release.
Many thanks. I’ll give it a go. S
