Getting AES output from Dorico

Hi there, I’m a very new Dorico user, having come across from Finale…
Is it possible to use my lynx AES16e as an ouput device for Dorico? The Lynx is a PCIE card with 16 channels digital i/o.
My dream is to have a dedicated computer for Dorico to score and playback my orchestral film scores, and have the output from this computer coming into my DAW as 8 channels of AES digital inputs.
The reason I’m thinking of going this way is that my main DAW is Pyramix, and this doesn’t support virtual instruments or midi at all.
At this stage I don’t even know how Dorico maps outputs, but I imagine it might be from the virtual instrument such as Kontact?
Thank you in advance!
Stephen

Welcome to the forum @smorley668 .

Does you lynx interface come with an ASIO driver? If in Dorico you go to Edit > Device Setup is a dedicated driver listed for your interface?
If not you could try the Steinberg Built-in ASIO driver and then click the Device Control Panel button. A new little window opens. In there, in the list of output ports, are there the AES outputs listed and activated (cross marked at the front of the name)?

Hi @Ulf
Thanks for the reply. I don’t have the Lynx card yet, but yes it has an ASIO driver. Thank you for describing the pathway to device setup, I was not able to find this section.
I think this setup is going to work very nicely for bringing virtual instrument libraries into my workflow :slightly_smiling_face:
