I installed VEPro 8 on the same Mac mini M1 as Dorico 6 and created a Dorico playback template and VEP server project with two instances. My Dorico PB template is set to allow two ports and each VEP server instance uses one of those ports and its 16 related channels. However, I am unable to “connect” both VEP instances to the server at the same time and therefore get playback of only half the instruments at a time. I have looked at John Barron’s VEP server project for Iconica and note that all his instances appear to be not connected but he was somehow still getting full playback, so I wonder: How one can connect multiple VEP server instances at the same time or otherwise get simultaneous playback from all instances? I have looked in the VEP manual but haven’t been able to find the answer.
Check if you activated the ports in your Dorico VST instrument (in this cse the VE Pro instance). So open the settings with the cog wheel (where you also entered the name nd check how many ports you set for that instance. If it is 1 change to 2 or whatever the number of ports you need and press set.
Then it should work. The new VSL presets in VE Pro 8 have up to 10 ports for the SY Percussion and that works perfectly in Dorico.
What is the actual error you get? I connect multiple instances(separate VSTs), each with multiple ports from 2 separate VEP servers successfully.
Thanks for your response @mavros but the VEP cog wheel shows the number of ports as 8 per instance. It seems like what I need is a way to set the number of connected instances allowed in each server project but if there is such a setting I haven’t found it.
I tried adding several VEP plugins to Dorico to see if each instance in VEP Server needs to go to a different VEP plugin but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Thanks @derAbgang . I don’t get any error message whatsoever but when I connect one instance (which works without a problem) it automatically disconnects the other. In practical terms this means I only get half of my instruments playing back.
Yes, I’m sure that is the underlying problem. As noted in my last reply to @mavros I wondered about this moments before your second post and tried connecting multiple VEP VSTs. This didn’t immediately work but if separate plugins are required for each instance it has to be the underlying problem and I will look at it in the morning and hopefully get it all sorted.
