Getting MIDI record to behave like audio

I don’t seem to be able to get this.

Dropping in on audio and MIDI together in a folder track with the =, how can I get the last MIDI part to mute when I drop in, as the audio does? (audio monitoring on Manual)

Switch MIDI record mode.

OK, I have

MIDI Record mode set to New Parts

Not using Cycle.

Drop in (manually) on an existing part and the audio switches to the new recording, the MIDI keeps playing the old part.

Am I missing something?

Try the other modes, or is it too much of a hassle?
