Getting Sounds that came with my AKAI MPKminiplus in to my Cubase 5

Hi all  I’ve recently bought a AKAI MPKminiplus midi keyboard and I’ve got it going in fine to my Cubase 5 and playing the sounds that are in built into Cubase. But I want to get the sounds that I got with the midi controller (ie; ‘Hype’ ‘Electric’) into my Cubase 5 and i don’t know how/if this is possible? Hope that question makes sense? Thank you in advance to anyone who answers. Cheers M

Hi and welcome to the forum,

If AKAI MPKmini is only a MIDI Keyboard, there are no sounds. If there are sounds, it’s not just a MIDI Keyboard, but it’s a synthesizer.

In this case, you would need to plug the audio cables from MPKmini to your Audio Device and record the audio.

But as far as I know, it’s just a MIDI Keyboard. So the question is, where are your sounds (ie; ‘Hype’ ‘Electric’) comming from?

I think these are just VST plugins. Did you install them on your computer?

Hype is a VST plugin. As Grim said, you need to install it on the computer and use it the same way you would any other VST instrument.

Hi Guys  Thanks for the answers but… Ive still no idea how to access the sounds. The software for HYPE is on my computer but I dont know how to open it inside Cubase 5. When select VST INTRUMENTS in not one of the options and I dont know how to make it an option (all the other VST instruments in their were pre-installed in side Cubase already.

You’re using a pretty old version of Cubase…if you’re still running the 32bit version modern 64bit plugs won’t work.
I guess the about menu item will list if it’s 32bit…does it say x86 or x64.

Hi,

In general, Add an Instrument Track, select the Instrument and you are ready to go.
