Gigantic files being created

  • Create a project with instruments.
Bounce the audio from the selected project in 64 bit accepting all other defaults, as you normally would with any project.
After the 64 bit wav file has been created, go back to the selected project and move the rightmost selection cursor toward the left selection cursor by an arbitrary amount so that a smaller wave file with the same name is created.
When prompted, overwrite the existing wave file.
A wave file the size of the free space on your hard drive is created locking up the system.

Workarounds
To remedy the issue, delete file and empty the trash bin. In some cases, you have to do so after a reboot because the system is frozen.
To avoid this condition, if you have to create a smaller wave file with the same name, delete the original wave file or choose to create a wave file with a unique name.
