Gliss unaffected by color property changes / spacing issues

I can’t seem to get any color changes to stick to a gliss. I click the gliss, open the properties panel, go to Common → Color. Anything I change there, from opacity to actual color, nothing affects the gliss. This includes in Write, Engrave, and Print mode (including printing in color). I do see threads going back to ~2018 about color not affecting everything yet, so I assume this may be related to that?

My situation: I’m needing to hide a gliss for spacing. I’m trying to add custom text to a gliss, but that’s not supported, so I’m using a line instead to mimic the appearance and get the custom text. However, the line alone kills the spacing entirely—my idea was then to add the gliss back in and reduce opacity, for spacing, but I can’t hide it. You can see that the gliss alone looks great and has plenty of space for the text “rip”:

But changing it for a custom line with the text “rip” is a mess:

I can fix it in Engrave mode with Note Spacing, but I do wish there was 1) a setting for lines to consider text in note spacing, and/or 2) a setting for gliss to add custom text (I have a bunch I would use!).

Just as with hairpins, you can increase the minimum span for gliss lines under Library→Engraving Options→Glissando Lines.

Hi Jesper,

The problem isn’t with the spacing of glissandi, it’s with the spacing of custom made Lines that have text centered over them. I have no problem with glissandi spacing, I have a problem with their visibility.

I understand.

You could keep the glissando and create a custom line with an invisible line body by setting Style to Dashed or Dotted and Dash-gap pattern to 0; 0. Then adjust the position of the line in engrave mode:

This was a lot of finagling but definitely has been the most consistent setup so far, thanks!
