Hello, wonderful Dorico community. I am looking for the correct method to affect the size of any of my chords that contain the “flat 9” as part of the chords such as A7(b9). I would like the “9b” portion of the chord to be larger. I have been dealing with these chords individually in Library Chord Symbols, but I know there must be a way to do this globally for this, and all other projects I open. Thanks for any guidance on this topic.
I am running Dorico Pro 5 on a Macbook.
You’ll want to use Font Styles / Chord Symbols Music Text Font and Engraving Options / Chord Symbols / Design / Scale Factor (2 settings). Individual overrides are not the way to go about doing this. When you are testing out settings, start with a new file created from File / New, do not use an existing project, as the symbols with your overrides won’t be updated correctly.
Thanks for the reply, Fred. You mentioned several font options, which is part of my lack of understanding. Is there one specific font element that would affect the “9b” part of the chord?
Yes, the only one that I mentioned, the Chord Symbols Music Text Font. Just increase the size. You’ll want to balance that with the Engraving Option setting I mentioned.
I will experiment, thank you.
