I have a rhythm that needs to be changed on several parts in a score. I know how to do it on an instrument by instrument basis but I am wondering if there is a way to do it to a group of instruments. The graphic below shows what I need it to do. The top most instrument is how I want all other instruments below it to look. Same rhythm, just grouped differently (half-note on bt. 2 tied to an eight on bt. 4). I could not find a setting in Notation Options>Note Grouping that worked. (Perhaps there is?) so I used Force Duration and re-entered the half note on beat two, then tied it over to the eighth on beat 4. I’d like to fix this rhythm on all the other parts without having to do all these steps. Is it possible? Thank you in advance.
Would you mind sharing the actual steps you took to achieve your result? Did you find a Notation option or did you end up using force duration? This can help others who search the forum when they have a similar question.
(Also asking for a friend because I can’t figure out why my own Notation options give me the first bar when the notes are not tied but the second one when I add the tie).
Sure. In Write Mode, if you highlight all of the notes that you want to change duration (in this case beat 2) but then just select Force Duration (Shift O) and select the half note, it will change it. What I had been doing is using the actual caret (Shift+N) within Write Mode to do this. I discovered that Force Duration will work with just highlighted notes. Hope that explains it.
