Quick report back after a few days trials. Spectralayers 10 Pro doesn’t always complete the unmixing when set to “Best” in Cubase ARA. Sometimes it reaches about 90% then crashes, taking Cubase 12 Pro down too. It doesn’t do this every time though, so it’s hard to replicate. In “Balanced” mode it seems to work fine. Anyone else try this a few times? (and maybe patch 2 will be better…). I haven’t used Stanadalone as much to see if it is the same. Thanks, Eddie
Yes, just tried unmixing a 4 minute mp3 at “best” setting in Standalone and getting repeated crashing. At other settings it works fine. BUT: After 5 or 6 attempts and restarting Spectralayers each time, it unmixes fine at “best” setting. Strange. Using latest Nvidia drivers for my 1080ti.
@Eddie_Stealth_Studio : Thanks. I installed the latest version provided by the Steinberg download assistant. My preferences are not showing the “AI processing devoice” option at all. I think I am missing something here. Thanks in advance.
Heiko
Here is how mine looks.
But have a look at Nvidia control panel and try adding Spectralyers 10 to the 3d options as shown in picture. With Magix Vegas it used to be an issue and had to be added manually. Maybe same thing with Spectralayers on your system. Ed
@Heiko_Grein that’s not the latest version, your About dialog screenshot shows “10.0.0”…
The Steinberg Download Assistant properly offer 10.0.10 on my side:
Hi Eddie,
I have done some unmixing at Best setting from within Cubase 12 Pro, using my new RTX 3060 gpu. I have not had any issues like yours. However, I process 44.1 kHz/24 bit wav files, not mp3s.
The gpu processing works excellently for me. Where it took my old i7-6700K cpu say 10 minutes to unmix really long stereo files, it now takes the gpu say 15-20 secs, which is a really significant time saving.
Only funny thing I’ve encountered is that when unmixing in Cubase and dragging the unmixed part into Cubase, the insertion seems to be from one to three samples off. In SLP 9 and earlier, I never had this issue. So this will probably need to be looked into.
I’m on Win 10, btw.
Best,
Magnus
Thanks Magnus. When in Cubase, I’m sure the program converts to wav on import with my current settings. I suspect it’s a graphics card issue. My card is Nvidia 1080ti, a few years old. Ed
Eddie, I should also add that I am using the latest Nvidia Studio driver.
Best,
Magnus
Thanks Magnus. Yes, same here (I use Magix Vegas video editor which has a handy notifier that lets me keep up to date). Eddie
Thanks for that. For some reason the download installer did not download and install the latest version. Sorted and "test - drive! ready now.
Thanks again for your support here
Best Heiko
