Grace note after trill is being put before barline by default

Good afternoon,

today I was typing some music and when inputting a grace note after a trill, it gets placed before the barline by default even if the corresponding property is not selected (see attached screenshot)… is it something to do with some new default properties for the trill?

Thanks in advance to anyone!

Update: it happens even when there is no trill before… it just seems that every grace note on the first beat is put before the barline.

Doesn’t happen here. Could you share the file or just the part with the problem?

Jesper

Thank you; I have found the problem: this is an orchestral score and I had instruments above that one that had a grace note placed before the barline in the same time position; this forces the grace note of other instruments before the barline. I find this a dumb behavior (again, the things in which Dorico forces you to do, without any need to be forced to) especially because I use the grace notes in the other instruments in a different way (see screen shot). Changing the voice of the grace note does not seem to help.

In any case maybe this is a bug or something to change because if the grace note is forced, the corresponding switch in the properties should be checked and by modifying it all the corresponding grace notes should be modified, if the behaviour is the same for all the grace notes.

Hm, yes, that’s a bummer.

Jesper

Yes, this is a known issue.

Hi @riccardo.burato, there are workarounds for this.

Please upload a minimal Dorico project with just a couple of those bars where different instrument use the grace note in different ways, and we can give suggestion about the best strategy to follow (workarounds).
