On September 24, 2024, I bought and received an activation key (code) for Cubase 13 Pro. Shortly after that, Cubase 14 Pro was released, and the company announced that anyone who had purchased (but not yet activated) Cubase 13 Pro in the weeks leading up to that point would receive Cubase 14 Pro upon activating their keys.
It so happens that up until now, this activation key (code) has never been used, and the software has not been installed.
If I use the activation code for the first time today to install Cubase, which version will be installed — Cubase 13 Pro, Cubase 14 Pro, …or Cubase 15 Pro?
Thanks, everyone! I picked up Cubase during Steinberg’s 40th‑anniversary sale, but I’ve been too nervous to install and try it so far — I’m worried I might be disappointed in my own skills. Now I’ve got a perfect reason to gift it to someone close to me instead. It would be a great present for a person who’s truly passionate about music as a form of creativity. That’s why I’ve decided to look into what I’ll be gifting.
I’ve never activated or installed it. I’ve only made the payment and received two emails - one with an invitation to activate the account and another with the activation code for Cubase 13 Pro.
I previously submitted a request to Support, but I have not received any response. I have now been waiting for a reply for two weeks.
If you want to gift it to someone you just need to pass on the DAC (Download Access Code) you received via mail. Nothing else.
Afterwards, this person can create a Steinberg Account and enter the DAC. It doesn’t matter who bought the license in the first place as long as the DAC has not been entered, yet.
Steinberg’s online support is slow, you are at the right place here in this forum to get answers
