Gradient note length

Is it possible to scale note length in a gradient from short to long length, given a specific start length and a specific end length?

Hi,

You can use the Scisor tool with the Alt Modifier.

Can you explain what you mean by this?

I’m not sure I can simplify the description any further, but I’ll try.

I want to take a pattern of notes and alter the note lengths in a slope, descending or ascending, by providing a starting note length and an ending note length.

I don’t think the Scissor tool with the alt modifier behaves in this manner. Actually, I’m not sure this feature is available in Cubase at the moment.

Actually I’m looking for more details rather simplifying the description. Say your sequence is 8 Notes long what does that look like in the end? Describe the end result & not the method you want to use to get there. I don’t think you can do what you want, but the end result is ambiguous - so probably not, but maybe depending on…? If so your answer will likely be using the Logical Editor.

There aren’t any more details – I want subsequent notes, in a sequence, to get longer (or shorter) over time.

Maybe if note length was an option in the ‘Controller Selection and Functions’ portion of the Key editor, that would be great. Then I could just draw in slopes similarly to how we can draw velocity.

OK, but the Notes on both C3 and C4 below conform to your description but are fairly different. Perhaps you could post a screenshot showing what you are after

I hope my link helped explain my request better, raino. Does it make sense now to you?

You could set up a macro like this:
Duplicate
Nudge End Right

And then set the grid so the gradient is correct.

Is that going to work on already sequenced passages?
