I need to anchor a Graphic to a particular note or bar.
If I use a graphic frame it is locked to the page. Then if I change the system break point or add another instrument to the score, everything goes out of alignment.
Any suggestions on how to do this?
You coukd use the graphic in a custom playing technique and attach it to a note.

Thanks for your response Asher. I am following the instructions for Edit Playing technique on p.928 0f the Dorico manual. It implies that there are three options: Glyph, Text or Graphic. But when using the editing the playing technique I am only given two options: glyph or text. How do I activate the third option?
This is what I want to insert (locked to the pitch notation). Every player in the ensemble is performing various whale sounds, and the graphic makes it clear that this bar is a whale sound, not a melodic passage. (Appropriate playing techniques and timbres are implied for each voice or instrument which this graphic cues.)
Select Glyph as the type, then click the pencil icon to edit.
In the next dialog (Edit Playing Technique), you can delete whatever is in the window with the trash can icon.
Then you can select the Graphic tab in the upper right and insert your graphic.

Fantastic. Your explanation is so much easier to follow that that of the manual. My sincere thanks Asher
