Green lines?

Hello,

What are these green lines above pages 9 and 10? I already did a reset layout.

They are just Default pages, and I can swap them with pages lef and right, but nothing happens.

They’re page Page Template Changes. You can remove them (if you want) by right-clicking and choosing “Remove Page Template Changes”

Thanks! I did that, nothing really changed, but I still have this odd space between the 5th and 6th line. There’s really nothing there, why is there a space. I decided to make all the preparations for Dorico not needing to recalculate, set everything right, but this still happens. No reason, I think. Is this a bug then?

Check for manual Staff Spacing adjustments?

I want to delete every single manual thing I ever did to this score, reallywithout any exception. How do I do that?

Sorry I missed the end of your first post:

If they’re default pages, then it’s normal that removing them does nothing, since they will be replaced with… Default Pages!

It should be enough to Reset the Layout. Engrave menu > Format Music Frames > Reset Layout.

Of course, you could always just delete the Layout and create a new one! A Dorico document can technically have no layouts – you just won’t see anything!!

EDIT Ok I did this. I think I’ll have to do that for all Layouts. Thanks.

I really don’t get it, why is this gap happening? And down a few lines there’s “to clarinet in Bb” written through the music. I really don’t get it. At one place there’s room but nothing to collide, and at another there should have been collisions avoided.

How can I see where the “to cl. in A” thingies belong to? There are several at the wrong place and I can’t find the spot they should be, they’re not “tied to” the real musical place where the belong with a dotted line. How can I reset the placement of all those things?

Did you do Engrave Menu > Staff Spacing >Reset layout?

Yes. The only thing that works is really deleting the layout and recreating it. For now that is okay, but I fear I might have to do that for all layouts…

What do you see when you go to Engrave Mode, in the sub-mode for vertical adjustments (the :up_down_arrow:︎ button)? Are any of the squares at the start of the system coloured red? In that case, you must have added manual adjustments yourself. Select any red square and press Delete to restore to the default.

Normally, Dorico should take care of correctly placing the instrument change, so I suspect a manual adjustment there also. Select the text and choose ‘Reset position’ from the Edit menu (or check its settings in the Properties Panel).
If it’s still wrong after that, then submit the file, so that others here, or the developers, can find out if it’s maybe a real bug.

Could you post a sample from your troublesome Dorico file that illustrates the problem? Then we could offer more targeted suggestions rather than guessing.

It is best, if you could post your file here.
My guess would be, if you Cut the “Poco rit….” at bar 52 and re-paste it, the first space will have sorted itself.
But, as said, we can only guess; a cut down project file will definitely help.

Instrument change labels should be created automatically: there are settings in Layout Options for where they appear.

I did what you suggested: delete layout and create a new one. I think this is a bug. The labels were everywhere, on other pages sometimes. Now it’s good. If ot happens again and I’m not on deadline stress, I’ll post the project here.
