I sometimes use Group/FX channels for signal splitting, and thus only their sends are used and I disable their output so that I have the option of using the sends post fader without any sound going to an output.
It would be very useful for me, if channels without an output assigned, had a greyed-out meter.
This could be useful in other circumstances - visually identifying channels that have ‘lost’ their output assignment by mistake.
And perhaps this concept could be extended into Summing Mode being enabled, and having a slightly different meter for any channel with a summing output selected.
