Groove Agent 5 "Groups" Feature

Hi,

I can’t seem to find any information in the manual about the “Groups” feature of Groove Agent 5. Just above the pads there are 8 Group buttons. But I’m not sure what these do. Do they allow you to load a different kit into each group? Or are these for patterns only?

If these groups are for patterns only, then I’m assuming you can load a maximum of 4 kits into Groove Agent at the same time via the “Agents” section along the top right of the plugin interface. I suppose that’s fine. I don’t really need to be able to access more than 64 pads worth of sounds on a single MIDI channel.

I’m basically trying to find a way to load up multiple kits and have these spread over the 61 keys of my 5 octave master keyboard on a single MIDI channel. If find that 16 sounds per kit is very limiting.

Is it possible to build a “mega kit” comprised of 4 different kits and save this as a single object/multi that can be later recalled?

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: I was watching a very helpful YouTube tutorial series on Groove Agent 5 by “One Man and His Songs” and discovered in the first episode that the “Group” buttons above the drum pads are actually “Pattern Groups” which allow you to select between 8 groups of 16 patterns. So that answers my question regarding whether it is possible to load a different kit into each Group. (You can’t.)

But I would still like to know how to load 4 different kits into 4 Beat Agents, change the MIDI notes assigned to the various pads in each kit so the sounds are laid out logically on my MIDI keyboard, and then save this configuration for later recall.
