Groove Agent 5 preset browsing causes DAW crash

As the title implies, after 10 or so preset changes GA 5 crashes, and consequently takes Cubase down.
I tried to recreate the behavior on a different DAW and same result, meaning the crash is originated on the plugin itself.
I love the convenience of GA 5 and its kits, so this is really a bummer.

Cubase 12.0.52
Groove Agent 5.1.11
Win 10

Any help?

Please .zip your crash dumps and post them here. They should be located in the following folder:
%UserProfile%\Documents\Steinberg\CrashDumps\

There it goes.

Same problem here. Permanent fatal crashes when browsing/loading presets using the Groove Agent 5 Browser (5.1.11). :frowning:

Where are those located on a Mac?? I haven’t had it crash browsing presets, but here, Groove Agent SE regularly crashes and takes out Cubase just from opening the GUI. I have some projects that were started back in 12.0 that were fine at the time, but with the newer updates, things are kinda flaky. If I don’t touch it, the projects are great, no crashes, can work for hours at a time. Once I open the GUI and start messing with things, at some point, it just randomly crashes and takes out Cubase almost every time. I’ve had it do it while adjusting envelopes, filters, even just looking through the different panes in the GUI, can’t figure out any rhyme or reason to it.

Checked in ~/Library/Application Support and ~/Library/Preferences but no Crash Dumps there??

Please Steinberg pay attention to this issue!

Have you also troubleshooted this on a different computer?

I ask because I have not been able to crash Groove Agent 5 at all.

I tried to recreate the issue on an M1 Pro MacBook, no problems there. It seems related to Windows in my case.

Same issue occurs on Mac computers. Crashes Logic, Studio One, and Cubase just by changing presets kits.

Same issues here on a M1 macmini on Monterey, very frequent crashes of Groove Agent 5, either standalone or inside Cubase. Only bought it a couple of weeks ago, really not a very good first impression, although i really like the functionality of the plugin. My system was rock solid before i instelled Groove agent 5.

I have the same problem on Windows 10. I’ve reported the problem to USA support. I really hope they are looking into this. So many people have this problem. A simple communication from Steinberg that acknowledges the issue and assures us that they are looking into it would go a long way to restoring my faith in this plugin and the company as a whole.

Same problem here.
Windows 10, Cubase 11.5 (last version), Cubase 12 (last version).

Same problem on my MacBook Pro M1 2021 Monterey. I browse Groove Agent presets and after 10, or so, preset changes, cubase crashes. This is an important issue that Steinberg must address.

A couple more crash logs if it helps…

Really would be great to know that Steinberg is working on a fix. I really like Groove Agent as a percussion plugin, but the crashing kills it. A stable Groove agent would be a wonderful thing.

I agree Jeff! I was beginning to enjoy myself after buying Cubase 12 last week - then poof! crashing whilst trying to edit Groove Agent.
Is the problem with GA SE 5 only? does the full version have the same mannerisms?
Fingers crossed this is fixed.
Cheers.

Unfortunately, the full version has the exact same problem.

There’s always a fly in the ointment!
They need to fix it urgently - it’s crucial bit of kit for a lot of folks I reckon.

Same here! Crashes seem to be arbitrary as almost anything can cause it. If I have a couple instances loaded stuff usually works if left unattended but editing or loading another instances upsets this working state and my crashes can be quite extreme. Please fix!
