Very nice update, a bit of a shame that the synthesiser function from Cubase isn’t included. But, okay, I’ll just use Cubase then.

Big opportunity missed there. The synthesiser engine from drum machine incorporated into the new groove agent (beat agent) 6 would have made GA a drum machine monster.
Yep a bit disappointed.

I guess drum synthesis might be implemented into Backbone.

Agree. It would have been nice if Beat Agent got a revamp and the synthesis engine. Here’s to hoping maybe down the line Backbone and GA get interoperability at the software level.

Update not really for me, I’m more of a custom sound designer/instrument builder - I use only my own sounds… and it doesn’t really seem workflow improvements were focused for those users. I really just needed a proper list editor instead of tabs.
It looks like good improvements though, like, good work to the team - just not for me. I’ll upgrade at some point don’t feel a rush to.
Also peculiar I’ll add, that this update seems very much more catered to the novice/preset library user - but - How important is that now that Steinberg has a DrumTrack and lower zone Pattern sequencer that will probably suffice for those types of users many of whom because of that, will never even look into GA? Maybe a larger product dev direction oversight there, maybe not. What do I know.

I don’t see another thread on Absolute 7, but it would be nice if Steinberg had an Absolute 7 path for those that like me who already have Halion, Groove Agent 5, Electric Bass, etc. I contacted USA support who said to buy the 349 crossgrade when fundamentally I will get is Groove Agent 6 and the new sound packs that those who bought Absolute 6 get for $99. Absolute wasn’t even available when I was buying everything piece meal. USA Support suggested posting on the forum, so here it is.

In 2026 I agree, it should be accumulative, most plugin companies small and big offer accumulative discounts for some time now. This is easily handled by most e-commerce systems.
It’s one of the reasons I’ve never invested in Absolute.

Agree. It’s a no-buy for me.
If I’ve got this right, one thing I see in scanning through Groove Agent 6’s manual is that for electronic kits it looks like now the mixer enables setting effects for each individual drum in the kit. For electronic kits in GA 5, the mixer bunched all the drums into just four overlapping clusters of drums to add effects to, so that, say, a compressor and reverb added to the kick drum also got added to a tom the same way, whether you wanted that or not. In GA 5, only the acoustic kits had this individual effects for individual drums feature. I think this is a big step forward for all electronic and acoustic drums to have this flexibility of individual effects for individual drums in GA 6.
Do I understand this correctly?
I own Absolute 6 (and Halion and Dorico), and don’t see anything interesting in Absolute 7 - except for Groove Agent 6. Is it possible to upgrade Groove Agent 5 only? As it doesn’t have a separate license, I suppose not?

No, you can’t update Groove Agent alone, but the difference between updating Absolute 6 to 7 and Groove Agent 5 to 6 is just €40 and you get a lot extra stuff.
You might not need it right now, so just don’t download it, but maybe later you find something interesting.
