“Prelisten In Place” integrated with cubase mediabay instead of the clunky integrated browser window. Kinda like what they did with the new drum track, but compatible with the full window instead of only working with the right Side panel.
also being able to curate Samples to a given pad and then choose later would be killer.
The only thing I need, is a spreadsheet/list style editor that breaks things down by Page→Pad→Layer→Parameters in a multi-select tree-list with columns and rows for parameters… Instead of the current GUI of layers being stacked tabs.
It should almost be like editing organized/symmetrical code in a program like NotePad++.
It would make complex multi-layer instrument editing way easier and faster
Definitely not,
there is nothing complicated or problematic about the routing.
Transfer to New (Groove Agent) Instrument from Drum Track.
I understand that in order for the synthesized sounds to transfer over to GA, GA 6 would need to have the same synthesis engine as Drum Track. Perhaps that is technically completely possible? I would find this an effective workflow to use Drum Track to quickly start on an idea, knowing that there is a possibility to expand later with the more powerful GA.
Also for the ultimate mobile Cubasis to Cubase Pro workflow I have been hoping for Drum Track (or stripped down GA) to come to Cubasis. Then, after importing such a Cubasis project with Drum Tracks/GA to Cubase, one would be able to transfer these to the fully featured Groove Agent.
I’ll bite.
Why wouldn’t you want a powerful drum/percussion syntheses engine added to the already powerful and versatile multi sample beast that is beat agent.
It’s basically the one area it’s been lacking in.
I don’t feel the need to defend my opinions, but I’ll throw the question back at you:
Why would you want to?
I don’t want it for the same reason I wouldn’t put ice cream on my fish and chips.
If I could ask for improvements to for Groove Agent 6, I would ask for the following:
Create an internal database of drum midi similar to Toontrack Superior drummer. This way you can audition drum midi without being limited to banks of 16 Midi from .Halpreset
Remove the Mediabay file browser from GA. Drag and drop on the pads from the Cubase Mediabay or your Daw is good enough. Who is really using GA5 standalone anyways…
Implement Steinberg & 3rd Party Vst FX inserts’ per pad, aux and master track. This would be similar the NI Maschine.
Resizable GUI
Volume controls and ADSR for each sample within a a layer on a pad (Example: Kick drum with 3 layers played at once).
Auto Audio Export any Drum kits to a specific folder or the project folder. This way missing samples do not occur.. Most kits would have a fairly small storage size…
Implement midi mapping like Halion 7, This way you can visually see and edit the velocity or round robin layers.
The ability to press one pad and trigger multiple pads. Example you Press C2 and the it also triggers pads A4, B4,C4 & F4.
Template for Pad audio output to individual audio tracks. You can manually set pad to specific audio out channels, but this needs to be done manually.. There should a templet to automatically set the first 16 pads to 16 individual audio outputs… This way you can properly mix your drum sounds in your DAW. Quality of life improvement…
Hot swap sounds during sample selection audition. This way you don’t lose the original sound on your pad when you audition other sounds in real time.
Fix the god damn ADSR envelops. Ive been requesting that for at least 10 years..
Keep the Cubase Drum Machine separate from GA6.
Groove agent is a drum sampler.
They could just make some presets of emulated vintage drums library’s sounds for GA6 as Stock kits…
They should combine Backbone with the Stock Cubase Drum Machine… Then people who like to tweak individual synthetic sounds will have more tonal flexibility.
I’m sure i will come up with more, before GA6 is realesed in 2030.
Of course you don’t need to…And I respect your opinion.
But if I can just add, one of the beauties of adding this feature would be if it’s not for you, you wouldn’t have to use it, and it wouldn’t affect your workflow at all.
“Why would you want to?” I sort of thought I’d already answered. For certain genres (Electro, many EDM’s) it’s been something that’s missing and combined with the already powerful features of GA it would be a percussion sound design beast.
I’m still curious why you would dislike it but as I said I respect your opinion.
That’s why I like GA, it is like using a tool meant for physics or chemistry experiments… I’ve done some of my best sound design work, sample creation and programming in GA of which couldn’t have happened in other drum instruments. I think GA as it is, is actually one of the most powerful, unique, and cool VSTis ever made to this day.
As I mentioned above, GA is not only for Cubase but also runs in other DAWs, so why should these users have to do without the functions of the Cubase drum machine? GA is a drum tool and not just a drum sampler. I expect it to offer the functions of a complete drum machine, including various sound engines such as sampling and synthesis. I hope the synth engine will be expanded in version 6. It’s great that the Cubase pattern editor has been integrated. A song mode would be nice too.
