Following my last post/moan about Groove Agent 5 (full version) I’ve been trying to learn it but, a lot of my GA doesn’t look the same.
For example, the tutorials say that basically you’ll have Beat Agent or Acoustic Agent at the library names, however, I don’t have Acoustic Agent at all, I have all the kits named by their type i.e. Studio Kit, Rock Kit etc.
Also, I’m missing these icons; what are they, do I need them?
If I’m starting on the backfoot I’m never going to learn anything!!
Any help is greatly appreciated although I understand that the Steinberg support is non-existent and I can’t find anything on their tutorials which help either - i.e. Absolute Beginners Guide would be good!!
First thing to understand is that there are two different versions.
The free one included in Cubase Groove agent SE
And the pay for full version just called Groove Agent.
The version in the video is the full version and there are of course some differences from the SE version.
On saying that, watching this collection of tutorials will give you what you need to know for the SE (free) version also.
Also treat Acoustic agent and Beat agent as two completely different instruments. They work very different and can create confusion.
I have the full version of 5.
I don’t have Acoustic Agent at all. I do have Beat Agent but the music I make is better suited to ‘real’ drums.
This is the problem I’m having, nothing any of the videos shows me is true of my version hence my first comment yesterday about it being rubbish or is it me - I’m beginning to think my version is rubbish.
The full version of Groove agent includes Beat agent, acoustic agent and percussion agent.
IMO it’s the best Drum instrument VST especially for using in Cubase.
Yes due its vastness it can take a bit of time and manual reading to cover everything it does. I personally don’t think they could have made it any easier without cutting back on some of the features / functions.
It’s certainly not awful.
I don’t know what is wrong with your version or workflow. I hope you get to the bottom of what is holding you back.
If I can help in anyway ..shout out .. maybe with screenshots.
Good luck
Thank you, I will certainly take you up on the offer.
I’ve logged a ticket with Steinberg so hopefully they’ll be helpful although, past experience tells me otherwise.
