Im trying to automate a pad’s pitch in a linear manner, but it won’t let me. Its only allowing steps. Is that a limitation of the pitch parameter ?
Can you provide a screenshot that shows the parameter you like to automate and its surrounding?
So the procedure, I slice up an audio clip, drag into GA 5, then say pad 3 , that slice I want to linear increase the coarse parameter. But it only allows me to do it like that, in steps. The line tool won’t work. I’m sure someone told me once how to change this from step to linear, but for the life of me I cant find it or remember it…
Coarse tuning only works in steps of whole semi-tones. This particular parameter therefore allows only a change in steps.
There are two ways to change the pitch in a finer way that I am aware of:
The first one is a on a per sample basis (which is cool if you only use one samle on a pad). It is the Detune value.
The other way is by good old midi pitch bend. You set it up in the Pitch section. Then you can send midi pitch bend data to Groove Agent, which in Cubase can also be done via automation.
That’s a horrible way to do it , but I see its the only option. And not something I can use. But thanks anyway. I will look for a slicer that does per sample linear pitch shifting. SliceX from Image Line is the perfect example BUT you cannot automate the pitch in Cubase…
As far as I know, no other slicer does it. But when I don’t need to pitch shift anything GA does the job nicely.
I don’t understand what is so horrible about using PitchBend.
Because it’s never worked properly for me. And it still isn’t.
Using pitchbend in the midi clip changes the initial pitch of the , in this case, Pad from the start. And I don’t know why.
