I am simply trying to create simple beats with the Groove agent SE, i have gotten as far as seeing the patterns and how to insert them by dropping them into the track themselves, however there not quite what im looking for. Is there a way to do that with just the “instrument” setting where you click on each beat to create your own?

if you have beat designer plugin you can sequence the notes and record them to piano roll or just program it in piano roll itself
SE hasn’t got pattern editor, just the full one
Select a MIDI controller for the MIDI track associated with GA and record it.
I’ve used a standard KB, CMC-PD, as well as a Yamaha E-Drum kit.
Otherwise just draw a part and use a midi editor to draw in your patterns.
