Groove Agent SE6 dragging groove to track bug?

Recently, after the Groove Agent update, (se6), dragging patterns from a pad, after preview, to a track seems buggy. The pattern that appears on the track is not the same as what was previewed via the pad. It doesn’t happen with all kits. There used to be a small button on the previous version (was located at the bottom of pattern page) that had to be active in order for the pad pattern to be dragged to the track exactly as it was previewed. There doesn’t seem to be anything similar in the new version.

‘Hoping someone has a solution?

Thanks.

I am moving this to the GA forum as there was already another report about this issue.

@Jan_Riesener , FYI.

Step By Step:

  1. Insert Instrument Groove Agent
  2. Load STUDIO KIT SE
  3. Pick pattern FUNKY RAVE
  4. Preview the pattern “MAIN 1” on pad C0.
  5. Drag pattern to Track.

The pattern that plays in the track is not the same as the pattern that was previewed.

I have found that this issue occurs with the STUDIO SE and THE KIT SE since Groove Agent was updated. this doesnt happen with any of the other kit packs I have in my library.

Hi PEmusik,

How did you set up the MIDIPort Settings for Groove Agent? Please see screenshot attached:

This is how it should look like. If the routing is wrong you’ll see this here:

Jan,

Thanks for the kind reply and for sharing the screen shots.
I believe everything is set correctly. (see screen shots below)

If you see something in my screenshot that I’m missing, please let me know.
I have a lot of Groove Agent packs and all seem to work but the KIT SE and STUDIO SE. All of the grooves preview nicely when triggered from a paad or from the grid but dragging to a track yields something different. What I noticed , in some cases, additional notes that trigger sequences of various instruments appears on the dragged pattern. These would be the Notes at the far left on the keyboard. Plus the grooves dont sound right.
Again, I appreciate your trying to figure it out.
(Personally, I feel it’s something to do with the kits and how they work within GA6.)

Digging deeper.

I pulled up STUDIO SE and the FUNKY RAVE kit.

I played the patter on pad C0 (Main 1) and it sounds fine. I viewed it in the converted PATTERN screen and I can see on F#0 there is a pattern that cannotbe heard while previewing. This pattern, when dragged to the track, triggers the F#0 (Main 12) pad which has another groove set within. (see image)
So, what I think is happening is that the groove on F#0 (which previews as a hi-hat) is trigging pads (Note #’s) that are embedded with their own grooves.

This doesnt happen with other packs. I’m convinced it’s just the STUDIO SE and THE KIT SE.

Maybe there is some setting I am missing.I see in the routing the midi is triggering the player. maybe it needs to, somehow, be switched to play only the kit after the pattern is dragged. But, if so, why do all of the other packs work just fine?

This is my morning Brainstorm,

Thanks again.

Hi PEmusik,

You didn’t set up the routing like I said. It needs to look like this:

Some kits have instruments, which are triggerd by the same note as a pattern pad is asigned. Therfor you need to set up Groove Agent to use the main port only for the Kit, not the Player.

Jan

Jan,

‘Took me a while to find the setting but my old eyes finally discovered it. (Including image here for anyone else following this post.)
What I did notice is that the setting doesnt hold. When inserting a kit and pattern again, it defaults to the previous setting. I wonder if there is a way to keep this as a global default? it’s the more logical setting for me.

Anyway… now I know what to do thanks to you!

On SE5 you click on the Omni button at bottom and it solves this problem.

Not sure about SE6.
