How do I audition just the snare drums in Groove Agent?
Hi and welcome to the forum,
You can Solo (or Mute) every single pad in the Groove Agent.
If you have Cubase, Use Media Bay to browse and audition snare ‘samples’. Quite a number of samples with GA are not inside locked GA layers, so you can mix and match them in building your own GA user kits, put them in sampler tracks, etc. Media Bay is designed to let you browse all the samples on your system (with tagged directories, or that live in registered vstsound archives).
If you are not using Cubase, then check out the pure ‘browser’ tab within GA.
For snares that are part of Agent Kits (that include the dancing drum set Macro Editor), you’ll notice that instrument pads are locked down in a way that you cannot change the samples, or drag things onto empty pads in the set. Agent kit layers might also be locked in a way that you cannot browse to the individual kit ‘samples’ and drag them into user made kits; however, you can ‘resample’ the pads (I’d use Instant Render in Cubase) and then use your copies in user crafted kits. So, to audition snares from these type kits, you’ll simply need to load the entire kits and check out the snare drum(s) therein. If for some reason you want a raw sample of it, set up a dry mix and resample it onto an audio track in your DAW…from there you can do with that ‘resampled copy’ what you will.
