Say I add a group channel to bus my drums to. The in that said channel I add a compressor. I use the sonalksis 512 or somehting like that. Afetr routing kick and snare to that group and activating the compressor i get no gr at all. If I use the sb comp its works fine. Is there a reason for this? I know its third party, but hsouldnt it work?
Yes it should. Try putting the Sonalksis on the kick drum audio channel and see if it works there. If not there may be a problem with the plugin.
