Grouped dynamics and their effects on condensing

While grouped dynamics are truly a wonderful thing (albeit have some quirks that must be wrangled), their effects on a condensed orchestral score is problematic at times. In a large(r) orchestral score, the amount of time spent grouping and ungrouping strategically groups of dynamics just for the purposes of proper consolidation is extremely tedious and can be error prone.

For example, in the below passage, one cannot group the top staff’s dynamics because they will cause a duplicative effect in the second bar even though all three instruments have grouped and linked dynamics in that bar. Why doesn’t Dorico condense these such that the least common denominator in a group of dynamics should be consolidated?

By requiring these to be ungrouped for the sake of condensing, you now have the case where parts have misaligned dynamics. And since grouping can’t be set per-layout, you have to choose which is higher priority: getting consolidated dynamics to display properly or having parts with properly horizontally-aligned dynamics.

Are there are techniques or advice folks can offer on how to better navigate this area of Dorico to reduce the amount of editing time and get a nicer result?
