Grouping notes (for articulation)

Hi guys! So I had an idea… and maybe it’s a crazy idea, but I thought I’d post it just in case.

While working on my orchestral score, I distributed a melody to a bunch of different instruments, then decided to change the articulations on a few of the notes. Obviously, I had to edit vertically as well as horizontally so that all instruments could have the same articulations.

Then I thought, wouldn’t it be great to be able to GROUP that melody just like we can group dynamics, and have the articulations update for all instruments automagically?

And then I thought, maybe the grouping might also work for notes changed within the boundaries of that melody, e.g. changing a C to a D or changing a quarter note to an eighth note and moving it over to the right by a 16th note??

I think that might be helpful… and it might also be a nightmare to implement.
(You’re welcome, Dorico engineers )

Thoughts?

This is a nice idea. I’m not sure quite how it could be done (it’s complicated because articulations are not separate events, but rather properties of notes), but we’ll certainly think about it.

If it can be done, +1
