GUI Lag with Large MIDI Template [VEP 7]

I’m having a problem with Cubase (v14.0.31 as well as 15, Windows 11 Pro x64, using a Steinberg audio interface). I have a large orchestral template with a lot of MIDI tracks (using VEP7) and one instrument track. I’ve tried this both with VEP open and closed, but the result is the same: insane GUI lag in Cubase (VEP is fine when I have it open). With any of the MIDI tracks selected, a folder, or a tempo track, there is significant lag (I’ll attach a gif of it soon). I deleted a lot of MIDI tracks from the template and the problem got a little better, but only a bit. The strange thing is, if I select the instrument track, the lag is completely gone and everything is snappy (until I select another track). That leaves me to believe it can’t be the amount of MIDI tracks, though I could be incorrect.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or know how to solve it?

First, with no lag (instrument track selected). Then, lag with anything else selected.

Edit:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
RAM: 128 GB

Cubase is on a SSD, as is all of the VSL samples and software.

I thought I had solved the issue by disabling some of the MIDI tracks in Cubase, but the issue is still there. Again, anytime an instrument track or event on an instrument channel is selected, the GUI behaves normally.
