I have often wondered why all notes are displayed on the virtual piano keyboard during playback in Dorico, but not on the virtual guitar fretboard. When individual chords or notes are selected, they are displayed as blue dots on the fretboard, but as soon as you press the play button, no notes are displayed at all. I would find this very helpful, especially for training purposes for aspiring guitarists. Following the tablature would be crucial here, as you can specify (keys N, M) which note should be played on which string.
Is anything planned for one of the next versions?
Since identical pitches can be played on a variety of different strings, considering hand position, I understand why this capability is more difficult for a fretted instrument than a keyboard.
I understand that, but if those notes are displayed on the fretboard as they appear in the tablature, then it should be relatively easy to display them, since the note and string are known (default tablature). If the default string has been manually changed using tablature (e.g., an A on the D string 7th fret instead of the G string 2nd fret), Dorico can display that as well.
What I find very unfortunate is that Dorico does not display any notes on the fretboard when playing back.
This is something that has been suggested before, and is on our wish list for future versions.
That would be great, thank you Daniel.
