If the nut is high the string will go sharp when you fret close to it. Did you take the guitar to a tech?
How high is the low E string off first fret, it should be as little as possible before buzzing when played open.
And how is the E string when you compere the open string (or the harmonic) to the fretted note at the 12th fret?
