I notice that you have made it a default that the string number size is different when entered from the properties panel as an attachment to a note versus the right side panel where the string number is attached above the stem or below the note. Also when several notes are selected and string x is selected in the popup, the larger text is used. I find this inconvenient and potentially misleading: string indications should all be the same size. They communicate the same information whether they are situated near left hand fingering, or stem or notehead side. I realize the counter-argument is going to be that the string indications placed near the left-hand fingering need to be small because they should not take up too much space, but that does not imply that the older string indication numbers or numbers attached to lines need to be bigger. An obvious counter-argument to the larger numbers is that they DO take up important vertical real estate when other symbols must compete for the same space, such as tempi, sul tasto, articulations, etc.
In Engraving Options, you can adjust the scaling factor for string indications:

I realize that, but the size ratio of note-attached string number and the Playing Technique is too great in my view. There should not be such a difference in size. I believe the Playing Technique should be smaller. When I change the Playing Technique size (Library/Playing Techniques), the size of both attached and unattached string numbers changes. There is no way to control them independently. Dorico provides no flexibility. See the attached images. The larger of the two images clearly shows the attached number is now inside the space rather than intersecting the two lines. This represents a size reduction of 60%.
If you set the scaling factor in Engraving Options to 100%, they will both be the same size. You can change the size of the Playing Technique to whatever suits your needs and then change the Engraving Options.
The percentage set in Engraving Options are relative to the PT, not vice versa, so the PT is the parent and the indicators set via the Properties Panel are the children.
So yes, you have complete control over their relative size.
Thank you very much! Dorico is deep. I am always grateful for the community support here.
Glad I could help.
