Had to reinstall OSX, quick controls didn't save

I recently had to reinstall my OSX, and after putting into place all of my backed up Cubase files, including vst quick controls and quickcontrols MIDI.xml, they didn’t save. Now I have to go back in redo quick controls for ALL OF my vs’t and inserts. This sucks because I backed everything up properly.

So my questions, where are the focused quick controls stored then and how do I import them into a new install of Cubase?

Also, where the default plugins stored? I had saved for example, pro q r with 4 bands ready to go and saved it as a default for that plugin but I can’t find it in all of my cubase backup folders.

Also, I keep deleting my old midi keyboard from the midi devices and it keeps coming back. Any way to permantenly delete the keyboard from showing up in the lower zone when I click midi remote?

The quick controls maps for VSTs by default are stored under [your Documents Folder]/VST XMLs.

@m.c There is no folder called vst in my documents. I’m on a mac OS 15 if that helps.

Ah, you’re on Mac, sorry didn’t pay enough attention earlier. You should find the VST XMLs folder under Library/Audio folder.

@m.c Thank you! In the same regard, when I map out my midi controller, does it get saved in the proper spot? or do I have to manually export it? Especially when it comes to S61 where Cubase already has a map, but then I do a custom one.

In other words, is where are those saved so I can back them up properly?

Thank you!

Custom assignments to our controllers when of course they are of global scope (project scope are saved inside the projects) are stored as json files in [your Documents Folder]/Steinberg/Cubase/MIDI Remote\User Settings.

@m.c Thank you so much for responding so quickly. It’s helped me get up and running fast!
