Hairpin Duration Issues

I have tried several different methods, but cannot get this dynamic to end during the last note instead of on the following rest. I thought there was a way to shrink the hairpin, but everything I try moves the whole thing, including the start. I want the tied note to fade.

shift-alt-left arrow should shrink it by the current rhythmic grid setting.

For most objects the key combinations are 100% consistent…

alt-arrow will move things
shift-alt-arrow will stretch/shrink things.
