I’ve checked other threads discussing hairpins crossing barlines and how to globally and locally dis/allow that, but this is a little different.
I am wondering if there is a way, on a layout-by-layout basis, to disallow hairpins from crossing barlines.
For example, in the full score, I do not want hairpins in the flutes to cross the barlines, but in the flute part layout, there’s no extending barlines to worry about and so I want the hairpins to extend all the way to the next dynamic under the first beat of the next bar.
Workarounds I have found:
-
Set the global Engraving Option to “Allow to cross barline” and then adjust the setting in the Properties Panel for all the hairpins in each layout I need to not cross the barlines. (This does not account for any future hairpins created.)
-
Set the Engraving Option to “Allow to cross barline”; set “Minimum distance to right of barline to allow dynamic to cross barline” to a high enough number to allow hairpins on parts to extend, but not on the full score (except for those on the bottom staff of a joined group); then adjust the setting in the Properties Panel for few hairpins that remain.
Ideally, there’d be a global way to set this for all (current and future) hairpins in a single layout.
