Hairpins move staves when move vertically

Writing a harp part and when I place hairpins it moves the staves, and when I move the hairpins vertically to where I want them, the staves adjust, too. Is there a way to turn this off?

TIA

Hi @MusiComPublishing, one possible workflow would be to flip the hairpin (to Above the staff, with F), then drag/position it as desired: doing so the spacing of the two staves of the Grand Staff will not be affected. But consider that the hairpin would influence other objects that may be in its avoid collision range, so more manual work may be needed to compensate for that:

Edit:

@MusiComPublishing
if the issue is only for the Part layout, you could deactivate the Collision Avoidance only for that layout, and set Minimum Gaps for the Grand Staff appropriately:

Thanks. That appears to work, but it seems odd that it’s necessary.

When I input dynamics for a grand staff instrument that applies to both staves, do I input it on the upper staff or the lower one? I’m getting unpredictable placements.

Generally you input dynamics in the upper staff of a grand staff so that they will be positioned between the two staves.

Please upload a Dorico file that shows the unpredictable placements.

(And I added another method, in my previous post)

Christian_R,

I really appreciate you doing all that.
